Quakertown is one of 3 areas that we are looking into moving. How do you like it there? Are there a lot of developments with young families (my kids are 5 and 2)? We are looking for a newer home (less than 5 years) with a nice backyard (.5 acre or so). We want 4 bedrooms and want to spend around 400,000. Also, what are the taxes like? We are coming from NJ so I am sure they are less there than we pay now.
Any info would be great!!
Thanks!!

Honestly, I can't think of a bad thing to say about Quakertown. We have all of the basics that you need for day to day life, and most of them are new since it's a growing area. We just got a Target, our grocery stores are nice, they are getting ready to open up a mega-Rite Aid and if the rumor is true that Taco Bell is coming then I'm truly in heaven

. The kids and I do everything from Dorney Park up in Allentown all the way to the Philadelphia Zoo which is only an hour away since we have a Turnpike entrance here. Just 10 minutes down 309 is a great coffee shop with a free kids' playland that we love to hang out in. In the summer we have a pool that is only a few years old and is so cheap to join. Perkasie pool is like a small water park and is only 10 minutes away. We love to go out to Lake Nockamixon and Peace Valley Park in nice weather to let the kids run off their energy.
I'd rather not divulge my exact location (pm me however and I'll lgive you neighborhood info), but I'm in a very large, newer neighborhood that is full of young families with children. In this neighborhood, you could get a 4 year old, 4 br, 2.5 bath house, on half an acre for under 400K. Taxes for us are just shy of 6,000/year. Just looking at the few houses around me, we have 18 kids between us! If we walk out back in the summer and turn the sprinkler on for the kids, our yard is full in a matter of minutes. And because we have such open back yards, my kids are free to run from yard to yard playing with their friends while I keep an eagle eye on them. Our neighborhood throws a fun Holiday party every year and we do semi annual yard sales. The only downside is that there are so many kids you do a lot of fundraising support for football, Boy Scouts, Cheerleading, Girl Scouts etc. We are gaining weight from cookies and gourmet popcorn
My son will be 5 soon and my daughter is 2, so it sounds like our lives are very similar! Bucks county schools are awesome and the kindy program is just spectacular. One of the reasons I love my son's school so much is that I know 100% that he will enter K ready to handle both the social and academic demands. I can give you info on moms' groups, pediatricians, and other doctors, although judging from your sign in you don't need to know the best OB/GyN for pregnancy

. I'm right there with ya!!!
