Default York or Lancaster?

My husband and I may be relocating with our two sons to southern PA. My husband would be working at Peach Bottom nuclear plant. Any ideas on areas that have good schools, reasonable commute (about 45 minutes or so), and are not in the middle of nowhere? We are in small town NH right now and love the lifestyle. There is still plenty for the kids to do (ages 13 and 16) but not too much trouble. Any ideas of places to avoid or desirable places would be helpful. Would Maryland be worth looking into? TIA for your help.

I went to college down there. I would not recommend Maryland since a lot of people are moving up to the southern part of PA to avoid the high taxes/home prices of suburban Baltimore.I would recommend Shrewsbury or Red Lion. Both of them have good schools and are quiet, but not dead. Shrewsbury has grown a lot over the 4 years I was there (may grad). there is a walmart, a bunch of big box stores going in, and a Amish farmers/shed market.
There is no real hgihway down to the Peach Bottom plant but the raods down there are quiet country roads that have pleasant scenery. I think it would be about 30-40 minutes to the plant.

Johnstown is way to far to commute to Peach Bottom Plant, it would only be a 4 1/2 hr commute each way/

Thanks. Red Lion, Stewartstown, Shrewsbury, and New Freedom were communities we were looking at. We will get a househunting trip if my husband decides to pursue this job I just wanted to make sure that we knew ahead of time of places to avoid. Thanks again!
