If you like being away from even a small city then that's probably a good place to be...It's at least an hour away from johnstown, probably close to an hour from uniontown. Very close to the WV border, never even knew it existed until I looked on a map. The nearest town is Confluence, which is home to the Turkeyfoot Valley school district, which from my knowledge, is one of the smallest schools in the state(Not that being small makes it bad).. It's in rural Somerset county. If I'm correct its along route 40. small, small town. Less than 500 people. Personally, the smallest I'd go is a place like shenandoah or a sharpsville or something of the like...But everybody's got their thing...If you like a really small, rural town with wide open spaces and no threat of sprawl for minimum 50-100 years, then this could be the place for you. From the map i looked at, the town might have only four or five streets in it. Hope this helps a little.

This is a late post but i am very familiar with lower somerset county/West VA. Ok, Addison, It is a very very rural town and my aunt's husband grew up there. as for the schools, Turkeyfoot Valley Area School District is one of the smallest schools out there. If you would prefer to live in a msall town go for Confluence. Also Berlin is probably the nicest little town in Somerset Co. as for the schools there it is one of the worst in the state ( not a bad thing though, its because of the size, but they do teach very well there. ) It is called Berlin BrothersValley School District. Just stay away from Crainbrook, alot of burglaries there.
