Gated Communities?? The Hideout??
Hi,
My husband and I are palnning to move in the next few months, after researching, we fell in love with the community idea, we have 2 young childern 4 & 6 with that in mind the safety and activities the communities offer are great! We have pretty much settled on the Hideout but are still open to others in the area, I have read past posts on the hideout and others and are pretty much confused! If anyone can offer some suggestions on The hideout or other communities that would be good for young kids it would be sooo helpful, we live in the Wilkes barre area so were pretty good with the different towns in the area.Thank you

Stephanie, just spotted your post! I usually only read the Northeast Pa section, and I do post frequently on The hideout there. If you do a search, you will find many posts on The hideout. That said...I have lived here for 14 years and have raised my 2 daughters here. They were 2 and 6 when we moved here. There are tons of things to do in The Hideout, especially for the younger kids. It is a great place to raise kids, and you will love the schools. Be sure to take the time to go visit the Hamlin Elementary Center to see for yourself. If you have any other questions, such as Doctors, dentists, anything really, I'd be happy to answer. You can send me a direct message if you want.

log home
I have heard only good things about the Hideout. I am looking to buy or build a log home there. Anyone have a lot for sale or a nice secluded wooded piece of property?

There is a gorgeous brand new log home built by a log home builder right on the outskirts of The Hideout. He hasn't been able to sell it for over a year, but it is gorgeous...times are just bad. PM me if you want more info.

You might feel out of place at the Hideout if you're not a New Yorker.

Tanglwood Lakes and Wallenpaupack Lake Estates are two other developments in this general area that you might also want to look at.
