New Freedom is becoming a MD transplant town. The home prices is this area reflect that. That along with Shrewsbury, the neighboring town, alll have seen a marked increase in traffic, development and ammentities.
Everything in PA is surrounded by rural. Mostly small turn of the century towns that are slowly growing into suburban sprawl.
Crime, from what I know, is not a huge issue in any community outside the main cities (York, HBurg etc). The biggest crime I hear of where I live in Red Lion is people holding up gas stations/convience stores.
Comoing from Baltimore where stickups usually turn into homicides, this isnt much. But to others who grew up in this area it may seem like crime is on the rise.
If you are considering moving to this area, look farther north up i 83 around the city of York (by which I mean outside the city in the suburbs. The only reason to live that close to MD is for work and I work in MD and I save close to $100,000 on the price of my home to add 15 minutes to my drive by not living in shrews/new freedom. So I would advise against moving to this more expensive area if you can.

shrewsbury is not bad but it has a lot of drugs and petty crime. and a lot of white trash ******s that think they have "blood" gangs and harrass people relentlessly. if you beat the **** out of them though they will usually cry and leave you alone.

Hey there - I'm tying to post a new thread, but I seem to get caught in a loop. Here's my question anyway---I am trying to locate friends that may be in the New Freedom area. ...
Steve and Virginia "Ginny " Green. He is a plumber and she is an ICU nurse. They moved from Calif. to PA. Anyone know how I can get more info? Is there a county office that would have info on them?
Thanks, Barry

Orion17, where in MD do you work? What time do you get on 83 and how bad is the traffic?
We are thinking about moving to the New Freedom/Shrewsbury area but we work in Baltimore. I am worried about the traffic though.
