Default A new Sports Grill on Penn Ave??

Posted: 3.4.08
I am a new resident in West Reading PA. I have been working in college athletics and recently moved from Wisconsin (enjoying the weather here!!). I also love eating in the locally owned bistros and bars across Berks County.

With the growth of West Reading and the great personality of Reading- I was wondering if a sports bar/grill would go over well in the West Reading/Wyomissing area??? Give me your thoughts! I would love to hear them! Thanks!!

I grew up in Reading but have been living in NC for two years. I might be moving back up to Berks once I graduate (depending on the job situation). Anyway, I think a good sports bar would be a great idea on Penn Ave in the heart of West Reading. That area has blossomed with cool boutiques, coffee shops, and restaurants over the past few years, so I think that having a good place to watch the game/grab a few drinks would be great. The Works in Wyomissing is a pretty good place to watch a game (huge projection screen and multiple flat screens), but it's got so much other stuff going on, with the game room and nightclub. The only problem that you might run into is parking, since West Reading is more of an urban environment, and obtaining a liquor license.

Duke- Thanks!
I also grew up in the area. Living in WI for the past 6 years and now living in West Reading I understand all your thoughts. I have just discovered a place that has 80 parking sports... it is a smaller pace, but a good beginner spot... If you have not heard there is a huge hotel going up over Viva Bistro (outlets) and then there is a 1 billion dollar project being pushed through in Reading. Great things are happening in the area. Hope all is well.

Again, I agree with Chris. West Reading seems to be an ideal area for such a place. Penn Avenue is always busy through there. You have a lot of the Outlet traffic as well as Reading Hospital. We actually moved here from NE Wisconsin. Yes, the winter is better, but don't you miss Wisconsin just a little? LOL! We do for sure. Good luck in your endeavor.
