Default Carlisle/Dickinson

What can you tell me about Carlisle? Anything in general? Considering a job there....mostly been thinking about moving west, but the job looks really interesting (at Dickinson). I'm 31, female...single. Not sure if that matters. I like small towns, but this looks real small....not sure if that really bothers me much though....

Carlisle is more like a large town, bordering on small city. It's the county seat so there's a bit of a government vibe downtown, but there's several restaurants and quaint shops. Outside of town there is a brand new Target and other chain store and restaurants. Very little crime, except for a couple block area on the northwest side if town where there is a bit of drug trafficking.. What else do you want to know?

hmmm....well what is the topography like, is it hilly? things to do? Do people travel alot outside of town for entertainment? I saw the male to female ratio was kinda skewed not in my favor!

Carlisle sits in the vast cumberland valley, so it's pretty flat by Pennsylvania standards. The borough itself is relatively flat, but the outlying areas are filled with rolling hills. A few miles to the north is blue mountain, which rises 1,000' above the valley.

There isn't much to do in Carlisle, aside from what goes on at Dickinson. Most nightlife/entertainment takes place in nearby Harrisburg which has a vibrant restaurant and bar scene.
