Pottsville is at the foot of the coal region, city of about 16,000. From what I've read its a nice city with very little in terms of crime. I would figure with all the people running from ny.nj, harrisburg and philly to interior pennsylvania the employment outlook would be getting brighter, especially in a city like pottsville. You can get away with not being a huge high school football fan in pottsville as there may be some other things to do there and its close driving distance from the lehigh valley and reading...If you're thinking of anything north of there in schuylkill or northumberland counties, make sure you like high school sports or it could be a long year.

I live in Schuylkill COunty and worked in Pottsville for 7 yrs. It's an ok town. Not a lot of crime compared to Philly and NYC. It has it's share of drugs and dive areas but most of the town is nice. Not much to do - except visit the Yuengling Brewery, but that also depends how old you are. Schuylkill County is economically depressed. Pathetic shopping and restaurant choices. We usually have to travel to 50 miles Reading or Harrisburg for decent shops. Houses are cheap, but you get what you pay for sometimes. After not being paid very well, after 7 yrs, I decided to get a better job in Harrisburg and commute everyday so I'm looking to move out.
