Default Moving to PA from NYC

Hi everyone, just want to thank you in advance for your advice.

My husband and I are both MDs finishing our endless "training" in NYC
we have a two and a half year old little girl. We have both been devoted new yorkers for a while.

I will be starting a job in center city (at HUP) and my husband will be practicing at 2 offices, one in doylestown and one in trenton.

we looked at the jenkentown/abington area and we thought it was very nice. We like the idea of living close to the train.

we think we will be able to comfortably afford something anywhere from 500k to 800k, it would just depend on what we can find that we like.

We like having areas in town that actually have sidewalks to walk on, we like having nature around us, but a walkable main-street nearby. Schools are of course important, having an enormous house is not particularly important, we care more about the quality of the area and of the house.

If anyone has any suggestions for us that would be great.

Thanks again!

Well, Center City, Doylestown and Trenton. You have a triangle to cover and obviously someone will have to do some commuting. Doylestown Borough is nice and you can take a train into Center City. Newtown is well located between Doylestown and Trenton and you could either drive into Center City or catch SEPTA at either the Langhorne or Woodburne stations. The Yardley/Lower Makefield area might also fit your needs. Good luck, I just recently moved from Bucks Co. and enjoyed my stay there (23+ years).

I think Doylestown fits all of your criteria. Great schools, houses and very walkable fun town. I also think it's nice to have a place close to work - at least for one of you. I would not live in Trenton in a million years. I drove there last week with my son's Robotics team held at the Sovereign Bank arena and was unimpressed and even made sure our doors were locked. I'm sure the area surrounding Trenton is much nicer but you couldn't do much better they Doylestown.

Jenkintown, Abington & Huntingdon Valley would all be good bets. It is fairly quick into University City for HUP & those areas are close to the PA turnpike to get to Trenton & Doylestown.

If you need assistance with temporary housing check Residence Inn by Marriott Philadelphia Willow Grove: Hotel suites in the Philadelphia area of Willow Grove Pennsylvania PA.. The Residence Inn offers great accommodations, friendly service and is very family friendly. Local parks, great schools and lovely residential neighborhoods make it a great choice for you and your family
