Default The new super Hummels Wharf's Monroe Marketplace info thread

Many have been posting info in the existing Golden Corral thread but figured since the MM news was rolling in more we should have a seperate thread for news and speculations

Sad news as this was in the paper yesteday. My prayers go out to his family and friends:

Quote:
A Huntingdon County man was killed Wednesday at the Monroe Marketplace construction site when a forklift ran over his head. Snyder County Deputy Coroner Roger Pheasant pronounced Ronald Montgomery Collins, 38, of Mount Union, dead at the scene shortly after 9:30 a.m
The Daily Item, Sunbury, PA - Man killed at Snyder County construction site

Can't find the news article but today's paper states they are going to clear out the trees in the midde of the site early this upcoming week and then road construction will soon start to create turning lanes, new stoplights, and other things. the article didn't really state when it will happen (sounding like maybe right after the trees are removed?). They will close down traffic to one lane on overnight hours as that was set up in their zoning permit.

RJ, thanks for starting this new thread.

We drove down the road behind the site the other day and you can see much more from there than from 11/15. The site is a muddy mess, but there are two stores well underway. I think the one near the back of the site (near the power lines) must be Target, as it seems much too huge to be Giant.

Just received some advance word that Kohl's may be hiring the second week of July for Full Time Jobs. I'll try to find out more if anybody is interested.

I see signs for construction by Sheetz and assuming that's for the roads by MM? Hard to believe we are approaching the middle of March already.

Not sure about a back access road but it would be a very good idea susquehannock.

Got word that Target won't open until October. Wonder which of the stores if any will open in June or July?

From the looks of the site, I can't imagine that roads and parking lots will be in and paved by summer, but you never know.

Default Holidays

I read somewhere that the Center will be open just in time for the holidays. I think I saw this in one of PREIT's board meeting minutes. Ill post if I find it again.

Saw they placed the big sign out front that will list the stores. Only had up the ones that will most likely be completed first.....Target, Giant, and Kohl's. Heard they are placing the roof on Kohl's right now. Minor news but news anyhow

I think you could contact the stores directly, at their corporate offices. I've also heard that CareerLink in Selinsgrove will be doing some of the hiring work for the marketplace.

I like the new sign. I haven't seen the store names yet; when I was by they were putting the top piece in place with "Monroe Marketplace" on it. It has clean lines and is "understated" - very classy.
