Upper Merion is a very safe area with lots of police coverage and more importantly world class shopping! There is plenty of housing available and depending on where you are coming from it will either be very reasonable or outrageously expensive. One of the nice things about the area though is there are lots of options.

Upper Merion is an extremely congested area but also very manuverable. The Upper Merion School District is not only one of the top districts in the state it is also one of the top districts in the country.

If you don't mind a lot of people around and you can afford it King of Prussia is a great area to live. (lived there for 20 years)

solancogirl you may be confusing Upper Merion with Lower Merion.Upper Merion has a good school district but its nowhere near the best in the state let alone the country. I would classify Upper Merion as middle of the pack.

The Upper Merion(KOP) area is safe and housing can range from affordable to affluent. Great shopping at King of Prussia Mall, fabulous Valley Forge National Park, lots of nearby office parks and industrial businesses.

Sorry Rainrock I know my Merion's. Upper Merion is one of the best in the state and country. Also at one point it was the ONLY school district in Pennsylvania that was accredited by Middle States. I lived in Upper Merion when it accredited and it was featured in Money magazine.

Lower Merion just has the higher price tag. You may classify Upper Merion as middle of the pack but million dollar homes doesn't always make a better school district.

Default OK Schools

We moved to Bridgeport which is right next to K of P and still in Upper Merion. Our kids like it at Upper Merion and the middle school is brand new. I think Lower Merion schools and T/E school districts are still way better and were rated higher but we found this area to be more affordable. Last years houses were selling form $275 and up that why we got our single home for $250 in Bridgeport. Bridgeport also feels more like a community where you can actually get to know your neighbor thats why we like it. There are a lot of new town houses here that are cheaper and appartments as well... I know that there is a house for rent on 9th street for $1200 / month ...

Crime seems very low on K of P for the most part and there are a ton of things to do here ... for example the Park & Rec department have a ton of programs for kids, we play volleyball with folks here in K of P and there are a lot of good parks here ... Bridgeport is right across the river from Noristown so some people worry about the crime from there coming into Bridgeport but the cops pass my house all the time and my kids have gotten yelled at by neighbors a number of times - which is good to me for it means the community is really watching out for itself - even when my kids weren't really doing anything all that bad... anyway I hope that helps.
