Thanks for the input! But I ultimately picked West Reading. It's lovely and there are a lot of positives for this area. Family is close by, short commute, bars and restaurants, the museum, Goggleworks is a few minutes away, etc.

Who knows, maybe I'll sell my house and seek out the big city life again at some point in my future, particularly if my job situation ever changes, though I'm content for the foreseeable future. (My job function is also something that can be easily done remotely, and more and more companies are offering that option in this field.) However, I just don't have the virulent hatred for Reading that some folks do.

That is awesome! Honestly Reading has so much potential. Literally any city in Eastern PA is ripe to take off, as all the larger cities become unsustainable to live due to high cost of living. Great choice!

Maybe you should rent in West Reading for a year. Houses don't always sell when you want them to.
