My Wife previously resided in PA, her state inspection is due soon, my question is, since she is in VA does she have to return to PA to get the inspection done every year? I am in the military and move around quite a bit, I would rather not have to re-register her car each time i moved (that and its still in her fathers name) has anyone else encountered this problem? Is it possible to have a VA inspection done in its stead?

I would think if you continue to have a PA license plate on the vehicle you'll need to have a PA inspection sticker on the windshield.

If its still registered in her father's name and he is a PA resident, then yes, it will need a valid PA inspection. Although you probably wouldn't run into problems with getting pulled over by police for the expired inspection unless you were driving the car in PA.

Like MrKrabbs said, you may not encounter any problems in another state, but the police in those states could possibly still ticket you for failing to keep your vehicle inspection current. It's probably best not to take the chance and run it back to PA and get it done.
