A New Photo Tour For Your Enjoyment! (Scranton, York: for sale, real estate)

Good morning folks! Today I braved wind chills in the teens to meander around the Green Ridge section of Scranton to snap some photos for my latest photo tour. Green Ridge sits roughly a mile north of Downtown Scranton and is home to St. Joseph's Center, a place of healing and comfort for mentally-challenged children and young adults, Marywood University, the Green Ridge Shopping Center, and several ornate churches. The neighborhood is also home to Mayor Christopher A. Doherty and Councilwoman Janet Evans, both of whom are bitter political adversaries who ironically live on the same stretch of North Washington Avenue in Green Ridge! (I'm on Doherty's side, but I digress). For those of you who have checked out my photo tours of the Hill Section, picture Green Ridge as being almost a mirror image, only flatter. The neighborhood is blessed with tree-lined streets, historic homes, and convenience to either downtown or the Dickson City shopping district. Enjoy!

Seeing all these beautiful homes all decorated for Christmas makes me homesick for PA! I've lived in CA now for almost 30 years and it's sometimes hard to get in the holiday spirit when it's 80 degrees. I can tell it's cold there, but you sure picked a beautiful day for your photo shoot.

The sun was shining brightly today, making the stiff, cold wind just a bit more bearable to my exposed skin (I was attired in trendy clothing, not a parka like I should have been!) LOL! All over the city, homes are adorned with holly, mistletoe, wreaths, and inflatable Santas! We just had about a half-inch of snow the other day, just leaving a hint of a dusting of snow on the ground if you look closely enough at some of the pictures. It truly does feel like Christmas around here!

I suppose it could be a little disheartening to be skinny-dipping in your backyard hot tub with your spouse only to look a bit to your right or left and see pairs of binoculars coming out of your neighbors' upstairs windows! LOL! Nevertheless, being so "close" to your neighbors forces you to interact with them; here in suburbia where homes are spread out rather far apart from one another, we often never see our neighbors other than just to "wave" as we pass each other on the road. As far as "quiet space" is concerned; I walked all over Green Ridge today and was startled by the eerie silence on this sunny day. There were no laughing children, no barking dogs, no music playing, very little traffic, etc. It's an extremely serene area for an urban neighborhood.

Again, beautiful photographs. What camera are you using? As for nosy neighbors with binoculars, I'd simply stand up in the hot tub, shake my weenie at them, and display my proof that I'm a natural redhead.
(P.S. another striking thing in the photographs is the size of the trees. I realize they're old, but their trunks go upward forever- ginormous. What kind of trees are those anyway?)
