Steelton has a high percentage of working class Latino and Caucasian people. It definitely is a rougher-looking town.

The next town down river from Harrisburg, Highspire, would be a decent choice. It isn't a great town, but it's not bad and you'd still be along the PA 230 corridor, if that's a preference. The primary negative with Highspire is noise from the airport. Middletown, which is the next town along PA 230 beyond Highspire, would be an even better choice, mainly because it is a larger town.

Default Is Steelton Nice Area

I live in Steelton, I wasn't looking to buy a house here, but good deal on house, mine was 70,000 and the taxes are so low here. Susquehanna, Middletown, harrisburg, are very high. I done my homework and fortunate to be here and can't complain. There are many different areas in Steelton, none are bad, police are very strict here. You just may see more people hanging out. Steelton could also be part of Oberlin or Bressler and different areas are different school districts. Different things to look at. Steelton Boro Website is the website that has information on the New Steelton as well.

You can come up and visit. Where I live it is very quiet and I love it. Only thing I hate is the hills.
