Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum.

I am an international student who will be starting college this fall.
I have a choice between York College and SUNY College at Brockport.

I want to know if York is a safe enough place for a student.

Thank you!!

York College is a great school, pretty campus, great facilities and easily accessible to Philadelphia and Baltimore. It is a "suitcase" college though, in that many of the students seem to vacate the place on weekends. People tend to confuse York College with York, which does have it's less than desirable areas, as all major cities do, but with some common sense and staying in the campus and suburban areas, you'd be very safe.

I would recommend SUNY Brockport. Not much to do in York. Entertainment is lacking. You will need to drive to Baltimore, about a 1 hour drive or Philadelphia, about a 1.5 hour drive to see sporting events or plays, etc. Nightlife is also lacking. I have been living here for the past 4 years and cannot wait to get a job transfer.

I graduated from York 2 years ago. I never really had a problem with safety or it being a 'suitcase' school since I was involved in several organizations with weekend activities. The campus was exprienceing a lot of new construction when I was there and I have heard that the costs has come up a lot because of them. Good school, nice and friendly campus setting with a park across the street.
