Taxes in Harrisburg zip vs Hershey (Palmyra, Milton: apartment complex, to rent, school district)

My husband and I will be moving to the Harrisburg area in a few months. I really know nothing about the area and was surprised to read about the differing taxes in neighboring cities. I'd love to live in Hershey but I'm concerned that the taxes will be high. Can anyone give me an idea of what taxes I can expect to pay if we were to chose to live in Lower Paxton (which is Harrisburg, I think) vs what we would pay in Hershey?

We are planning to rent for now. I'm a nurse and my husband will be exploring the geological jobs in the area, if that makes any difference.

Hershey has very high tax, you can check lower dauphine school district for detial information. You also need to pay $500 extra per person while that part you can find from Dauphin county websit, Hershey is very nice place to live if you do not mind paying higher tax. I do not know anything about Lower Paxton, but Plamyra is the place I suggest you check out. It is right next to Hershey, expecially on the northside of main street there are couple big development, like thistledown development is right outside of eastside hershey border line, right next to Milton hershey school which is a very beautiful place. Palmyra school is not as fancy as hershey school, but consider very good school too. Good luck!

Lower Paxton Township (where I lived for nearly 8 years and moved from just over a week ago) is very suburban in nature, with the minor exception of the village of Linglestown. Keep that in mind in determining where you live.

FWIW, the apartment complex where I lived, Eagle's Crest Apartments, is within walking distance of the Community Osteopathic Hospital. Another complex, Lakewood Hills, is also within easy walking distance of the hospital, and there are a couple others that are doable via walking but aren't as convenient as the two mentioned above.
