Default Best Areas in Delco

We currently reside in Northeast Philadelphia and are looking to move to Delaware county. Our price range is low so that right there limits our choices and I know that means I will need to compromise on our want list. Basically I am look for a nice neighborhood with good schools. We are looking at the 150 mark for housing. So far the few cities that have come up are Glenolden. A couple of others Im not sure about. Drexel Hill, Clifton Heights are also looking good on paper. We plan to take a drive through the area this weekend but if anyone lives in the area and can recommend some areas to consider or even some to stay away from please let me know!!

Thanks!

We are looking to stay within a 45 minute commute from my husbands work which is in Cherry Hill NJ as well

Price wise you might be able to find some rowhomes in Drexel Hill area or Clifton Heights. I'd say that Drexel Hill is better than Clifton. You could also check out other sections of Upper Darby like Highland Park or Lanerch - closer to Rt. 1 - Tpwnship Line & W. Chester Pike.

However, if you are looking at commutes, try getting closer to Rte. 476 for quick access to 95 and the bridges. In that case, Ridley, Holmes and Interboro might be good options - I'm not sure of the prices in those towns. Again you might have to be looking at twins, Cape cods or rowhomes.
Springfield is a very good option, but the homes will be more expensive. Most twins there are probably $200,000-ish.

I'll definitely take a closer look at those areas. You mentioned Drexel is better then clifton. Where do you think Glenolden fits ?

Re: Drexel Hill vs. Glenolden...I'd still probably say Drexel Hill, but it would be a closer call. Check out options in both areas. Some of your neighborhood choice may really come down to how easy it is to get to the major highways, since your H has to go to Jersey!

My Aunt & Uncle lived on Rively Avenue in Glenolden and they were great houses. Large straight thru's with a garage and large front yard. Clifton Heights has gone down alittle but still not bad. Good luck with your move.
