Question Jobs in the Red Lion, PA. area

I've lived in Florida far too long and hear that southeastern PA. is a nice place to live. The York/Red Lion area sounds good but I'm not sure about the job market in that part of the state. I don't plan on moving soon, maybe 2 years from now and need to know about the market for teachers. In fact any information on jobs in general would be great.

What subject do you teach? When/where did you get your certification? Getting a teaching job in PA can either be easy or difficult depending on the subject you teach. If you haven't or didn't take the full PRAXIS series of tests, you'll have to complete them before getting certified to teach in the state. More information might be found at the PA Dept of Education website.

I hold a license from the Southern Conference in English, Speech and Drama and Social Studies. I've taught in Missouri, Kentucky and Florida for several years before moving on to corporate America. I've researched the site you provided and plan on contacting the PA Dept of Ed. for instructions on what I need. Thank you so much!!!

Commuting to Philly from Red Lion can be up to 2 hours, and that's just with normal traffic. There is always road repair construction going on during the summer, so it may take longer. Commuting to Baltimore is much more common from the Red Lion area. York County has a ton of school districts (16?) and they all hire their own staff. Many work through a common site/common application process, but then you are interviewed and hired by the district itself. I'm sure you'd be able to find employment with your multiple certifications. Just make sure you've passed the PRAXIS and can get PA certification. They will emergency certify you for the first year, on the contingency that you will take the coursework required to get certification and the PRAXIS test.
