I grew up in New Castle on the South Side. That area has changed.... I think the better part of town is north and east of the diamond (center of town) or like nocheapones said..... Neshannock or Shenango townships

I have a friend that lives on East Wallace, and I've visited that area before. It's not as bad as people make it out to be. I'm not being racist or putting words in your mouth but...Just because a few black people live in that area, is that why you'd avoid it?

I'd agree that the north hill (out Highland Ave) toward Neshannock would have good neighborhoods and reasonable prices. Most of New Castle is cheap compared to other places. Unfortunately, there are reasons for that. The loss of industry and manufacturing across the rust belt has hit New Castle especially hard, to the point that it's lost quite a bit of its population; hence, the low real estate prices. There has been a "brain drain" here like in other areas that have seen declines in population. The landscape around New Castle is beautiful, though, and that hasn't changed.
