Default Relocating to York, Pa??

Thinking of moving to York Pa, close to 83. Can anyone give me any suggestions on communities and school districts. I have a 7th grader and I'm also looking for a neighborhood/school district that is pretty diverse (I'm AA)..

Default Dallastown schools

In my opinion Dallastown schools are the best in the York area, right up there though is Suburban and Central. Queen Street off 83 is easy access to downtown York, York hospital, great for MD commuters etc.

Good luck!

Dallastown School district is excellent and offers lots of diversity. Suburban and Central are a little further north on 83. 4th choice would be Red Lion. 7th graders attend middle school in all districts and go to HS in 9th grade.

If you can get far enough above York to be in the West Shore School District thats what I would do. 83 cuts right through it and it's rated one of the top overall SD in the region. If i remember correct, exit 32 on 83 would be near the southern edge of the SD.

Along with Teachbeach about which schools districts are good... you will also pay more in PA School taxes should you choose the upper echelon of districts. You should be able to search on 'School Tax' and find a lot of posts on this forum about that.

In case you are unaware or where you currently live is different, there is a property tax and a school tax. Property taxes are small by comparison but the school tax is large. Most states/counties have on prop tax that is used for schools. PA separates them out.
