Sorry. Over 350,000 new Democrats have been registered and the number of Republicans has actually declined. No way the Republicans are carrying PA in November. This state, once a true swing state, is becoming true blue.

New democrats were registered only because the dem primary is the only one with a contest this year. There are a lot of people I know who are voting for the "lesser of two evils" pick in the D primary that plan on voting for McCain in November. I'm kind of wishing I changed my registration from independent to D just to vote against Obama.

PA is a blue state, but not by very much. I'd still call it a swing state, especially seeing that a large number of PA democrats are conservative Catholic democrats, many of whom will vote Republican if the D candidate is too liberal. I think PA will be red in November if Obama is the nominee, but it will stay blue if Hillary is the nominee. Obama is too liberal for a majority of PA democrats.

There was also a push from Rush for Repubs to re-register as Dems. My whole family is mostly Dem and they all say if Obama gets it, they are voting for McCain. My MIL is 65 and has never voted Repub, she said for the first time in her life, she will vote Repub if Nobama gets it. A co-worker in her fifties, registered to vote for the first time in her life, because she felt this is the most important election in her life. She is also voting against Obama. There is no way, Obama even has a chance in the general election. He is outspending Hill 3 to 1, and he can't carry key states. People recognize him for what he is; a too liberal empty suit with empty promises.

If you want 4 more years of Bush, vote for McCain, and continue the regression. Incredibly inept, divisive nonsensical, ineffective policies from this group. Republicans. A bunch narrow-minded beyond belief, stuck in a time warp, content to hire only each other to perpetuate the enormous incompetence, pompous enough to think that the ways of this country are the only right way, ignorant enough to pretend that racism doesn't exist while practicing it, short-sighted enough to underestimate people or regions of the world because they don't have bigger guns, and too blind to see beyond their own noses. Republicans are easily the most pathetic political party in the world.

If you want to elevate this country out of the Dark Ages, rejoin the international community as a respected leader, put someone in office with some dignity, intelligence, novel effective ideas to the modern problems of this diverse society, put people in power who try to find commonality among people rather than emphasize the differences, vote for Barack Obama. He is easily far more capable than any Republican, far more intelligent, far more inspirational, far more versatile, a man of great depth and ability. Those of you who can't see that have problems. You need help. Those of you who can, consider yourselves among the most enlightened, educated, progressive, and forward-thinking. Hillary pales in comparison.

It is my opinion that this country is so sick of the retarded Republican agenda, so sick of wasteful Iraq war effort and spending, so sick of the regressive-minded people of the Republican party who are so out of touch that they for instance haven't seen the other side of Boalsburg. People are so sick of the racially-divisive, culturally-divisive policies. Republicans support policies that favor big business while allowing a record number of H-1B visas into the country to take jobs from qualified Americans so that these companies can maximize profits, Regressive Republicans cry about illegal immigration yet are the first to pay an immigrant peanuts to clean their house or take care of their yard. Add to this the fact that the Republicans count among their supporters some of the most ignorant groups in the world. No, it is not as easy as mcCain taking all the states Bush did in '04, exchanging Ohio for PA. What a pipe-dream. By the time Obama gets done picking relic McCain apart as well as the disastrous Republican policies, McCain will be lucky if takes his own home state of AZ.

I feel CHAAAAAAAAAANGE in the air!

blah blah blah.

I can't believe people actually buy into partisan party politics. News flash: both the democrat and republican parties are corrupt. Neither of them give a s%&t about the regular taxpaying citizen....they only care about their special interests. The special interests may change....the democrats will cater to the welfare state, feminists, etc...and the republicans will cater to big business.....but in the end, its the working taxpayers with less money in their pockets. They're all snake oil salesmen, and too many of you people are suckers for buying into it. "hope...change..." blah blah blah.

I agree with MrKrabs;

Alexus, saying all republicans are racist is the same thing you spout off about in your rants. I think your line is "narrow-minded beyond belief, stuck in a time warp, content to hire only each other to perpetuate the enormous incompetence, pompous enough to think that the ways of this country are the only right way"

BTW, I am libertarian and I am for dissolution of the party system. You must first be in congress to become prez. You record on voting on bills in the house will be your platform and by what people judge your presidency.

That will take out all the brow-beating frenzied speeches which are used for one thing, to make you forget what we were really talking about.

McCain is stiff, but seasoned
Hillary keeps saying that we need a leader, but never tells what she is going to do
Obama says we need change, and gives vague examples of what he will do.

Vote independant. Get a third party in the debates. Only then will we see the party system crumble and then the voters can stop looking with their red and blue colored glasses on and just pick the candidate who represents their views best.

No thanks. The irrational rightwingers who celebrate the tragically incompetent foreign policies of the GOP and anti-middle class domestic policies were soundly rejected in PA. Some Americans prefer sound leadership to wingnuts who hate science and want to create a theocracy in the U.S. – all while harming our military to help war profiteers.

No thanks.

It's hard to deny that with the older population dying off combined with transplants from more liberal states that the political landscape is shifting left in Pennsylvania. Also, I think it's an unfair characterization to generalize Democrats in PA as all working-class, conservative Catholics. Clearly some are forgetting about the strong base of moderate-to-liberal Democrats (and Republicans) in Southeastern PA and the Pittsburgh area. We are a pretty politically diverse state, to say the least. As for Barack Obama or Hillary, either one is certainly suited to win Pennsylvania against McCain (recent polling data proves that). The inane "liberal" labels and skewed sources being provided to explain their "positions" (i.e., abortion) don't really hold too much water, as far as I'm concerned. Besides, I don't know about everyone else, but I take a lot more than one issue into account when deciding to support a political candidate.
