If you are looking for hair salons that cater to African Americans, you may want to concentrate your search more towards Harrisburg Proper.

I know there is a place on Market Street at I think 16th Street and I think there is a place on Market near 13th Street. There are probably a few other barbers/salons not too far from there. Be aware both of these places are in the Allison Hill neighborhood, which is considered one of the roughest parts of Harrisburg.

I think there is also a place on Market right in downtown, between 3rd and 4th. The place I have in mind is more a barber shop than a salon however.

NOTE: I'm not black, but I remember seeing these places from traveling on Market Street many times when I lived in the Harrisburg area.

Kelker and Green street in Harrisburg. It's in a fairly nice area too.

Thank you, would you happen to have a name? I'm still new, so I still have to google places, I have not mastered street names just yet.

Black or not, I appreciate the help. I've been to one on 3rd, but it's a little out of my price range. I'll continue to look. Thank you again for your help.

I have been here since 1999 and still have not found the ideal hair salon for African Americans; either by distance or availability for service in the Jonestown/Lebanon PA area. The main problem has been finding a salon with an operator that does ethnic hair. I usually wind up at the beauty school which also have limited times for relaxing service.

If someone out there does know of a salon that offers daily services for African American hair, in this area, PLEASE let me know.

Sorry, I just rode my bike by it again last night but forgot to get the name! It's right at the corner of Green and Kelker. From Camp Hill, you'd come into the city and turn left up Second street, turn right on Kelker and it'll be on your left at the corner of Green/Kelker. It looks like a pleasant place and the neighborhood is mostly middle class.
