Sell me on Shillington, Please! (Reading: apartment, club, shop)

We are going to be moving to Shillington... I have a problem..I am not as thrilled as the rest of my family. Please tell me good things about the town! Help change my mind and put my concerns to rest! Do they have a good police dept? Can anyone tell me about the churches? One more thing, I get lost Easily when I drive in new areas, so, is shopping easily found? Oh, and are the people friendly? I hear that PA people can be stand-off-ish and self centered, hard to get to know?

My SIL did her student teaching in Shillington and really liked it. It's close to the great shopping outlets in Reading without being right in the city. The police took down a drug dealer in her apartment building, so yeah, the police are on the ball. Don't let the drug issue scare you - drugs are everywhere and it's the places where the police are taking action that are the safest.

People are people no matter where you go. Everyone comes with their own prejudices. If you're friendly chances are people will be friendly back to you. Join a church or local club that interests you in order to make new friends.

You say your family is moving. Is this your parents that you're moving with and you're a student? Or are you an adult moving with your spouse and/or kids? Will you be looking for a job? That's another great way to meet people.
