South Central is nice. It's growing rappidly (fastest growing region in the NE) due to maryland and DC imports, but there are still spots particularly towards the mountains that still have their rural aspect and still only minutes from Harrisburg or York or Lancaster. Urban, not really, but still has a nice spectrum of stores.

Ive interviewed all over the nation. Some of the western cities I thought I would like really were isolated. Isolated is good, if you want that, but I am single. I have always lived in big cities, more in the suburbs, so I am used to having certain things.
I just couldn't convince myself that a town of 10,000 was going to be okay for me.
I would have no friends or family there...a job, yes, but nothing else.
For those putting down Pittsburgh, it has far more than some of the places I have been. If you can move near a big city, and I don't mean downtown, you have it made.
Call it suburbia, bedroom communities, whatever....having a safe, clean environment with good city services is a start.

Pa? It's completely dreadful- if you go to York County it is a depressed hickville and the Philadelphia area is very crouded and everything outside Center City is either really expensive or really run-down. Plus, it is Klan country. Be cautious of Pa.

Is Pa Depressing??
That all depends on who you are, what you want, and what part of PA you live in. If you're a "good old-boy" who likes to hunt and fish, you're going to be in heaven in North Central PA; if you're a career woman, you'll be depressed.
If you like history and the arts, you're gonna love Southeastern PA; if you like hanging out in the local bar swilling beer, you're gonna love Northwestern PA.
I've lived in PA for 54 years, and there are both good and bad things about every section of PA, although I tend to like Pittsburgh (for the friendly people), and Philadelphia (for the arts, shopping, and diversity).

Isn't that generalizing, just as saying the state as a whole is depressing? There are arts, culture, and history all over Pennsylvania, not just in the southeast. There are plenty of people in northwest Pennsylvania who don't hang out in bars, yet they love where they live and lead perfectly happy lives without swilling beer.

depressing pa
Gray skies all the time, I seen or heard on the news the days of sunshine we got last year, it was really low. someone out there may know this or check it out, it is true
More rain than I'd like but i live by the forest, and I mean a hard rain, day after day
So FWIW thats my opinion.
