PA is never boaring...there are so many things to do, at your finger tips....NYC, is not far, the NJ beaches....MY GOD, if you love history, the arts, the neon lights of great cities, it's all there...or you can drive further north to the Poconos, and experience life in the wild, or go even further north and touch Lake Ontario, and all the Northern counties, which we all call God's country.
There are tons of festivals, the Bethlehem Musikfest...The Irish Festival....May Fair Festival....it's all here....not to mention...some great opportunities for career minded people.
We have the luxury of wonderful summers, some very hot, in July, some not so hot..of late, lovely light snow fallen winters...and exuberating aray of color in the fall...and of course spring, a very happy time, you can feel people waking up and getting so excited about planting.
There are still numerous farms...the Great Bucks County Area with Mercer Museum, FontHill Castle...
God, I love PA!!!!!!
Anywhere you live can be boaring if your afraid to get out there and live....you can drive to DC or Gettysburg, Hershey Park...ohhhh, I could go on and on....
PA is a tourist attraction for everyone...with so much to do and see....and by the way, I've only just begun to name a handful of wonderful places to visit and see in PA....
Have I answered your question?
hugs
creme

Compare to this:
Colorado Population and Components of Change
or this:
Washington Population and Components of Change
Just two examples.

Younger folks have moved elsewhere for job opportunities, but the tide has certainly been changing the past several years.

That the above is unlikely to happen.

I'm amused that the first two "so many things to do" that you mention are not in Pennsylvania.

Erie. Pennsylvania borders on Lake Erie.

If you like the weather here then no if not yes. To me yes, thinking about moving to SC, my opinion the weather is crappy. You get maybe 5 months of decent weather and the other 7 are crappy. BTW live in NE PA. The only nice months you get here are May, June, July, August, September. April and October are OK and Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb, and March are just cold. There is no season change here, all you have are winter and summer. And during the winter months it may be cloudy like 10 out of 14 days. Dec, Jan, Feb, Mar, no much sunshine. I love the sunshine, clouds are depressing. Like now it's 10:30am and it's 38 degrees out. The average high now is 50, it won't even reach that all week, supposed to be in the low 40's, it's like this every year. It will be cold till around the first week of May and then all of a sudden you got 70 degree days. Last year I had my heat on till the first week of June, and the year before that May. What will it be this year July? My heat is on at least 8 months out of the year, that's sad. On top of that I have natural gas and paying right now about $250 a month for 2 story home. Crazy!!!! I want to go were you really don't need your heat much. I'm not bashing PA, at all if it wasn't for the weather I would like it.

ONLY $250/month to heat your two-story home? Try paying more along the lines of $500/month to heat a ranch-style home, like my parents do, and they live within walking distance of you!
