Sometimes, I look at all the places that I've been to, compare them to this state, and wonder why the hell I'm even here.

I like color, flavor, style, and vibrance to life an PA definetely is void of those.

Where do you live that things are that bad? You are going to blame where you live on being depressed?

This whole topic is depressing and I wish it would go away.
I love SE PA.

Homeless people "everywhere"??? I'm not even going to justify that with a response.

There is nothing to do here for fun all the people do is go to bars people here sit at home and watch BET and other tv shows and then try to act like what they sawe whole city is so fake. The people here will stabb you in your back like its nothing.they have a ridiculous government system. All the government here does is sit in office and come up with ridiculous ways to take your money but they try to do it in a slick way so you want know but its always in the open.If it was a way to vote and we could get rid of any city in the US this would be my first choice !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Idont know what it is but there is something REALLY REALLY WRONG with this city and its people too...
I live in Harrisburg and I'm not depressed. Sorry about your situation.

The weather in PA is nice, four seasons, none of which are too extreme. Unless you live in the north part of the state, you are with in a short drive to a bigger city, and depending on where you live, you can easily make a weekend trip of the beach. People seem to care about history, preserving it and learning about it.
I do not think Pennsylvania has a corner on "friendly" and "down to earth" people. I think you can find them in Minnesota. Yes, it's a different culture. My DD went to college there, and it is different from what she was used to in Denver, too. Actually, it sounds more like Pittsburgh to me, with people having lots of family ties and family dinners and the like. As far as the history thing, I'm sure you can find history buffs in Minnesota. They seem very proud of their contributions to the Civil War, etc. What makes you think they don't care about history there?

1st MN lost over 80% of their regiment at G'burg on July 2nd 1863. Most of any union regiment in the battle... 262 went in.. 47 came out unscathed... Sorry couldn't help it...

Well, I am not from Minnesota. I really don't know what point you're trying to make. I was just saying, they seem to care about their history, too. To think that PA has some corner on caring about history is incorrect.

No way, Pa is so beautiful, if you go further east, nothing but country with mountains. I don't think it is depressing at all. But I know that winter can get a bit that way for lack of sunlight. But hey you can get out and do things in Pa. I love Pa and can not wait to move back to Pa.

Me and my hubby are just one step away of being debt free and then we can move finally.

Default erie is OK

I have lived in Erie for most of my adult life. And I can't decide whether I love it or hate it. Mostly, I hate it in the winter when my vehicle is frozen to the ground, and I must dig it out of three feet of snow before I can go to work. Love it in the summer! I just today saw...a bald eagle! We have a nesting pair of them on Presque Isle, which is the part of Erie that makes me stay here year after year. I can forward any interested party something that one of my students wrote about seasons here in Erie, let me know at adoty25@gmail.com. The weather here can be absolutely horrendous, but there's always a payoff. The only caveat is, driving in the snow can be a real *****. Go slow in the winter, because no one else does.
