Thank you ShadowCaver
You are right. What I like is sometimes different than what other people like. My husband loves the sunshine, I prefer cold, cloudy days. I don't know why, but I just get giddy on those days.
I got to live in Michigan for a year and fell in love with fall and winter! The beautiful foliage and crispt Autumn temperatures, the pumpkin farms, getting to wear sweaters in October instead of shorts & a t-shirt, and the wonderful snow! What fun that was!
I long to move back up north. There is so much beauty there.

I love PA from Mid April-Mid November, while actually to Christmass. The seasons are great, and what I enjoy of moving back. However, January-march are depressing. But there is something beautiful in the gloom (I know it sounds weird). It also makes the rest of the year more appreciative. The is nothing like mid-October to Mid-November in PA. I am an adult now but still look forward to Halloween just for the time of year.

Thank you hummus! I am pretty stubborn at times, so I don't think I will change my mind about wanting to move.
I should not complain about Houston, there are many advantages to living here; but I feel like the north is where I belong.

You are very welcome. To use that blackberry analogy a bit more - when eating a blackberry cobbler, I love the seeds, crunching them, the gritty feel of 'em, along w/ the sweet succulent taste of the berry, all together - however, many people can't stand them hard things messing up their smooth taste. Just like you say you love the cold, the overcast, the snow, and such, many go berserk w/o a daily dose of sunshine! Living in northeastern IN, I too love the change of seasons, the variation - yet, lol, when it is below freezing, and as ya are scrapping the frozen water off the windshields, while the wind howls and cuts through ya, even tho' you've many multiple layers of shirts and jackets and overcoats on your shivering body,,, those are times when a smile is not so much upon my face about living herein. Yet, there is a serene peacefulness too - even w/ the wind kicking up snow drifts many feet high, can see the beauty of nature - of course, 'tis better at those times as sit in the house with a cup of hot cocoa gazing out into it, while the fire crackles nearby!

Well said. This board tends to be self-selective for people who have the propensity to either make a place out to be heaven or hell -- making it hard to find a balanced, objective opinion. We must take everything with a grain of salt.

Many parts of PA are lovely. Reading, however is a nightmare from you know where!
PADutchBabe wasn't kidding when she said Reading was depressing.
I've been stuck in this city for almost 7 years.
I've been hit twice in my vehicle by latinos and this time broke my neck and hip and almost didn't make it! And it is true that if you are a gringo, you are NOT liked or made fun of.
Ok, that's fine but I am NOT the one leaving trash all over the streets, running drugs and stealing. I've actually had a lady in walmart tell ME to speak Spanish. I said, this was America, speak ENGLISH. If I ever go to your country (once was enough) I'll speak your language.
With that being said, I am getting the heck out of this once lovely city turned nightmare and moving to the western US...where people are still nice, have manners, don't talk on thier cell phones and go through red lights constantly, WORK for a living and have morals and standards.
Thank GOD I am out of here in a week!
I WILL miss the lovely rolling hills of PA in other areas, the sweet lakes and streams and the people who actually care about others.

Is there a large number of illegal immigrants in Reading? My ex-husband is a Border Patrol agent, so I have dealt with my fair share of those.
I hear the crime in Reading can be bad, but the surrounding towns are much better.
Of course, the crime in Houston can be pretty bad as well.
Still, I am looking forward to moving there someday, no matter what!

To put things in perspective, the city of reading wanted to install gunshot detectors so cops know where shootings are going on. Fairly depressing for a MSA of 300K

Is the crime that bad?!
What is going on in Reading that makes the crime rate so high?
