Default Need commute from Trenton - Newtown? Yardley? HELP!

My husband is now working out of Trenton and we need to move as right now we are in NJ but he has a 1.5 hour commute and we both think thats too much.

We are considering: Manalapan in Monmouth County NJ or Bucks County (Yardley, Newtown).

I am getting some strange feedback re: these towns. First of all - regarding Newtown Schools - they seem great yet are they extremely competitive and only cater to those that are in the top tier? My kids are not even in school yet but I would not want to put them in an environment of that sort.

I would like a place where they are not "sheltered" yet are in an environment to learn and succeed and be independent.

I am also looking for a "community" type feel - a place with young families starting out........

Any recommendations/suggestions would be very appreciated!

Thanks!
