Hello,

My husband was offered a job in coatesville, PA and we are trying to get a feel for the area around there. We are from a small town in Michigan, so we dont require being in Philly, but is there any places fairly close (15 -20 min) that might be nicer to live? So far all I have heard on Coatesville is steering me towards not making the move. Also, if anyone could possibly tell me about entertainment or thing to do around there(or relatively close by), as I have not been able to find out to much on the web. Thanks a bunch!

Downingtown is very close to Coatesville. Good schools and a little less expensive then West Chester or Exton, both of which have much more shopping and activity but would mean a longer commute to Coatesville.

Downigtown and Exton are good. Coatsville is NOT! Work there - fine, live there - no.

Good luck!

There are a ton of new developments in Caln and East Fallowfield township. If you have kids, you would not want Coatesville schools. But if you have no kids and don't care, or would send them to Catholic schools anyway, you should check out Caln and East Fallowfield as you can actually get some green space and a larger home. I'm renting in a development with a Coatesville zip code and its surrounded by woods and has actual mature trees...all within 5 minutes of Business Rt 30 where there are 3 supermarkets and a ton of chain restaurants within a 15 minute drive...I would pick Coatesville mailing with Downingtown schools (if schools are a consideration) over Downingtown proper any day.

You could also live a little further away in West Chester which is the county seat for Chester county. Very nice town and nice suburban area. A bit of a commute to Coatesville, but not too bad.
