Oh good Lord. You are NOT being serious, are you? I believe that's a derrogatory remark people make towards homosexuals (or at least the connotation I've overheard customers saying at work about us is along those same lines).

Maybe it's not a joke. I honestly did not know what people meant when they said this until I was 35. I had never heard this growing up and it was not a common phrase in the South where I had lived for a number of years. It was not until our move back to PA that I found out.

I thought the Hershey Highway was a euphemism for an anatomical feature until I moved to PA. Then I saw the segment of one of the US routes thru Hershey with the streetlights shaped like wrapped Hershey's kisses. Then I had seen it, the actual Hershey highway! Don't remember if it is 322 or 422. Heh, I live near Harrisburg, but have no reason to go near or thru Hershey so haven't been there for years.

Both
A euphemism as explained, as well as a name for Rt 322 in Dauphin County. I heard the phrase Hershey highway as described by some here for years before I actually found that some refer to that segment of Rt 322 by the same name. If I were asking directions, etc. I think I'd simply say Rt 322, I wouldn't want someone to get the wrong idea asking "How do I find the Hershey Highway"

I am from VA and have lived in the Hershey area for 3 years, I have never heard this expression. I definitely wouldn't give directions using the term "Hershey Highway" nor would I use the term for anything else.

This is so funny I was laughing out loud. I am gay and I have NEVER heard this and I am from here. I think I will integrate it into my vocabulary. I would have expected that road that branches off 322 to the front gates of the park. LOLOLOL!
