Hi. I'm new to this board so please forgive me if this question has been posted before. My husband and I (no kids, just two black labs) are moving from Northeast Philly and we're considering Birdsboro. Can anyone give us some info about the town, please? Thanks.

My husband's brother and wife and three kids (and 2 big dogs) live in Birdsboro. They love it there. The schools are terrific. The two oldest kids are now in good colleges and the youngest is in 11th grade. Their neighbors are great and you're close to great shopping at the outlets in Reading and Lancaster and Harrisburg/Hershey.

I was just visiting my friends in Birdsboro last night. They like it and their son has done very well in the local school district. I would actually consider moving there because the houses are a little more reasonable in price than where I live (just 20 minutes away in Chester County). I also think it's a good location for commuting to Reading or to the King of Prussia area.

Thanks for your replies, that helps alot. We're trying to get out there this weekend to see some houses but our realtor hasn't gotten back to us yet.
Thanks again. |

I will warn you to look beyond the main street. As you drive into Birdsboro there's an old factory and some other stuff that seems a bit run down. However, further down the street are some nicely redecorated buildings and then you turn into the residential area and it's really nice.
MY BIL lives on Walnut Street and it's a very nice, tree-lined street of older homes (in his area). He's within walking distance of the schools and very close to a grocery store. There are also several churches within walking distance. |
