Default I need 411 on South East PA, ASAP PLEASE.

Hey everyone, I am new to these forums, and I am looking to get Extremely fast 411 on this area. For your information I am looking to rent for now, buy in a few years.

More then likely, I will be moving to South PA area before July 4th, and I need to know where in PA i should consider.

I also need to get tax, cost of living, crime rate and other info on these areas as well.

I am moving from Jacksonville, FL (the taint of the south.) The city is 1 of the largest in the nation, usually taking 45-60 min to get from 1 side of Jax to the other. So driving from PA to Baltimore is no sweat.

I am aware this question is posted a lot of this forum, but unfortunately i do not have a few weeks to read over everyones opinion.

Anyone know anything about New freedom, Shrewbury, Cross Roads, Glen Rock, Loganville, Dallastown, York, Red lion

or should I even consider the Oxford, Nottingham area?

If anyone has websites leading to apartments in these areas, that would rock too.

Any 411 would be great. THanks!

This is a very hard question to answer. You will get very opinionated response's in regards to this question. Must it be PA?? I'm not a fan of Baltimore at all, I'd rather be close to Philly in one of the surrounding area's, but thats my opinion. I'd rather pay more and be close to some action then out in "stinky farmland".

Try Phoenixville PA,

It made it as one of 100 places to move to.

thats 2.25 hour drive each way. Thats Kinda nutts.

But as I mentioned before, the Oxford, Nottingham area is only an hour away from Baltimore, and its only an hour out from Philly.

Whats the deal with Baltimore? Is that where your job is located? If you are planing on renting, why not just live close to the city then. The cost savings in fuel would allow you to be closer to some type of life. I was under the impression that the city's you listed were more or less bedroom communities with not much going on. I could be wrong, maybe someone else will chime in?

Yea, sorry, I guess i forgot to add that. I will be working in Baltimore and any apartments from Baltimore to the state line on i83 are twice the cost of an apartment in York. ex: 2b/1.5b 1200 sq foot apt in Cockeysville is around 1400-1550, in york - 850

I woudln't live in york, but thats my opinion. It may be cheaper with some things in PA, but that doesn't mean it's gonna be a good life. PA is a corrupt state for the most part, you really get next to nothing for your tax dollars.

York is Southcentral PA not Southeast PA, so you're probably not going to get the right responses given your thread title.

A lot of people do the York-Baltimore commute, so traffic on 83 is going to be bad. Just be aware of that. Same for the 95 commute from Oxford. Oxford is not an hour away from Baltimore in rush hour... I'm not even sure it would be that fast in non-rush hour. I would really recommend living closer.

There are plenty of options in PA. I am in Hanover pa I live just 3 miles from the MD line. I have been in the area for 12 years and love it. You can comute to baltimeore in little time. You may want to think about the Glen Rock/ Shrewsburry area. Just off of 83 and lots to do there.York is very city like so if you are a city person that will suit you. I will be happy to help with getting info on property and areas to look and pricing. Just e mail me and ask away. I am good at helping people relocate..sharris@aqre.com
