I'm sorry I'm not a student there (so take my opinion w/a grain of salt) but my sister is a freshman there; I've been to the campus like 6 times (she doesn't drive...I would go pick her up). She doesn't like it...it's not her cup of tea.
1) Edinboro has a good education program. Teachers here (in SW PA) have high regards for the program. (Cal state as well)
2) You pretty much have to go to Erie to shop. There is a Wal-Mart not too far away from the school. Erie is about 15-20 min away...something like that.
3) Education-wise...I don't know...was never a student there. Looks like they are building some new things on campus however
4) I'm sorry, but in my perspective, the dorms look like prisons. Not that bad...but you get my jist. Concrete block walls...really lame soundproofing, no carpeting. My sister was in "towers" (whatever dorm that is) but her best friend was in another one...it was a little better...but not much. I myself stayed in dorms at two colleges (Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University & West Virginia University) and they were far, far nicer.
5) My sister actually did like how Edinboro provides extra tutoring...and professors were pretty accessible. She didn't enjoy all of her classes...but you get that at any school.
6) The campus is nice....standard. Social life was affected in that they stopped allowing students to throw events (read parties) on campus. There are some eateries...like McDonalds not too far away. But overall the campus feels pretty rural (remote?) to me. But I've always lived in cities. The only lake I saw was actually off campus.
