Commuting to Harrisburg (Elizabethtown, Camp Hill, Hummelstown: apartment, to live in, restaurants)

Hi all! My fiance and I are planning on moving closer to Harrisburg this fall when we get married. Right now we're from the Elizabethtown area, and want to move closer to have a shorter commute. We don't really want to live in the city, so we're looking at suburbs (Camp Hill, Wormleysburg, Hummelstown...). We'd like a nice area (reasonable apartment prices) with a short commute to work. Pluses would be a grocery store nearby, etc...

We don't have any kids so that isn't a consideration. Any suggestions?

Are you sure that the city proper is outside of the realm of possibility? I believe member danwxman recently relocated to Downtown Harrisburg and seems to be rather happy there. I'm seeing a lot of positive improvements coming to our capital city in the coming years, and as younger people it might be cool to be within walking distance to restaurants, shopping, work, etc. You always have the suburbs when you get a little bit older and/or consider having children.

I am moving to Midtown on Friday

Downtown is very safe. Lots of street activity keep it that way. If you're a young couple and kids aren't a consideration right now I can't see any reason not to move to the city unless you don't like city life. The suburbs of Harrisburg, even moreso then other metros I think, are really family and old people oriented -- which makes them boring for me. But to each his own.
