Look in Doylestown area-there is train service to NYC. The prices of homes reflects this NYC connection but it is still cheaper than NY or NJersey.

Hi, Well My hubby travels to Englewood Nj everyday And I like to go into Manhatten often to see family. We are definetly under 2 hours to Manh. We live in Dingmans Ferry PA, Pike County. That is very north close to the tri state area. I jump over to Ny all the time. I came here because it is definetly cheaper then NY. Paid 160's for my four bedroom house and nice property. Also came for the best rated school, Deleware Valley. Don't know if that applies to you but my four adopted children love the school and are all getting straight A's. Many people in my comm. comute to Ny city but could never afford to live there. Just a suggestion in your search. Any more Questions feel free to ask. Good Luck!!
very involved

Doylestown's cost of living has more to do with the fact thats its in the heart of the Philadelphia metro and less to do with NYC. Yea , (Philadelphia) that little 6 million person metro that has been in the top 5 in population and job growth since this country began. Doylestown is 20 miles from Philly, 75 miles from NY but its New York that distinguishes the higher cost of living. Unreal.

You cannot even compare Philly to NYC...there's nothing like NYC, especially job wise. I'm sure Buck's county desirability is due to the excellent schools and the close proximity to NYC and Philly....
