Possible Relacation to Harrisburg - want to reconiteur some neighborhhoods while on interview trip (Mechanicsburg: apartments)

I was hoping I could get some specific thoughts on my situation. I am a single, mid-30s professional woman without kids. I am interviewing for a couple of positions, one of which is in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, just outside Harrisburg. I am currently in Florida but will be flying up to Harrisburg for a live round of interviews in the next few weeks. Since I don't know if I'll be able to get back up there during this process before I make any decisions I am hoping to have some time to at least briefly check out some possible areas for housing. At this point it would mostly be to aid in my decision making process but also in case I end up getting and taking the position.

I currently own a house here in Florida. I have to be realistic and anticipate it may take many months to sell it. So my immediate search is something that would be good for at least a year, but does not necessary have to be the perfect spot since once I sell my old place I will probably buy somewhere.

So for now I am hoping to find a 2BR-3BR hopefully for $1,000/mo or less since I will be carrying a mortgage too. As a single person without kids I'd love to be in an area that isn't so family-oriented that it would be difficult for me to meet new people (the mistake I made where I currently live!). And in a decent area where I would feel relatively safe (I've lived in cities and understand you always have to use common sense but areas fall on a continuum).

Based on various posts on this forum I like the sound of the following:

Shipoke: Seems liek the best fit although there don't seem to be many rental places available there.

MidTown

Italian Lake

Camp Hill: Obviously this would be a nice short commute but it seems more of a good choice for someone with kids worried about a good school system

Thank you in advance for your thoughts and insights! Would these be logical possibilities for me to consider and/or are there other spots I should add to the list? I won't have a great deal of time to drive around looking at areas so I want to narrow the list of those I go look at and consider to a manageable number.

Also, I assume that a place with dedicated parking in any of those locations (with the exception of Camp Hill) would be the exception rather than the norm. Is this a fair assumption (just trying to determine what might be standard).

You made a lot of correct assumptions, you certainly have done your research. I think Midtown would be the best fit. 2 to 3 bedroom apartments generally go for $650-900 so you shouldn't have a problem there. Any more questions just ask.

Camp Hill and the communities that surround it (Lemoyne, New Cumberland, Mechanicsburg) aren't bad choices either, they're safe but not as affordable and yes more family oriented.

On the whole, apartments go for roughly 1 dollar per square foot.

Thanks for the helpful info. It's good to know I should be able to get something that meets my criteria but you never like to pay more than market!
