Check out the forum at phillyblog.com The colleges are in "center city", which is the downtown area or "university city" which is adjacent to downtown.
Also the city compilation for Philadelphia at skyscraperpage.com has info and there are often picture threads from Philly in that forum as well.

I can tell you that for a small, specialty school, USP is a good choice, especially if you are interested in the pharmaceutical industry. It's really an overlooked gem, a very well-financed place in the shadow of Penn and Drexel.

Here are a few random thoughts-
USP is great, but a more affordable option for me was Temple. While I wasn't a science major many of my friends were and they had great expeiriances. One of them went on to complete a second degree from Temple at the dental school. While many will probably start arguing with me about this next statement-It is not a dangerous campus. In fact in addition to the Philly police in the area Temple has their own force which is the 5th largest police forse in the state. Just something to keep in mind.
On the weather-it sucks and is cold, but so pretty when the city gets all snowy. there are a ton of fun clubs and funky bars as well as great theater.
