Default Good cafes, wifi spots in/near Reading?

Greetings,

We just moved to the Reading area and are looking for local restaurants and coffee shops that have good food, ambience and some with free wifi Internet access. (We're vegetarians so that narrows the options somewhat.)

I'd like to explore the West Reading area but haven't located any wifi spots there when I did a web search. Any recommendations?

Thanks in advance!

The Pike Cafe on the corner of Pike & Moss in Reading has free wifi, but it's more of a bar setting. As for coffee shops, I personally like the Hard Bean Cafe in West Reading (corner of Penn Ave & 6th St.) Very nice relaxed atmosphere and good coffee. I don't believe they offer wifi however.

I've also heard great things about Viva in West Reading (Hill Ave & N. Park Rd) but haven't been there myself yet. Supposedly the food is good, the menu is extensive, and I always hear raves about the ambient atmosphere. I heard once that Viva offered wifi, but that was a long time ago when they first opened so I don't know if that's still true. I haven't heard anyone say anything about it since.

My personal favorite local restaurant is the Ugly Oyster on S. 5th St in downtown Reading. It's a little Irish pub with fantastic food, although I don't know how much they have in the Vegetarian department. Still a nice little spot to check out though. Another favorite of mine is a Vietnamese restaurant called Hong Thanh on N. 6th St in Reading. Excellent food and very nice atmosphere.

I give high marks to the Ugly Oyster. As far as a wifi place, people in Berks County don't fool with that stuff. They do not even know what a computer is.

Thanks for the recommendations! We loved the Hard Bean cafe, and they do indeed offer wifi (although the network is a little slow sometimes.) I'll have to check out the Ugly Oyster, as I hear they have Celtic music nights.

Msgrelle, I found my apartment through Craig's list for Reading. I found that to be a better source of listings than the newspaper classifieds. There are also printed apartment guides, if you're looking for a complex (Oak Forest, near Albright College, seems nice as complexes go). I found it difficult to find a place that would take 2 dogs, but otherwise there seemed to be a lot of options in and around the city. What exactly are you looking for?
