Default Andreas PA.. any input

Well. I found what looks like an awesome rental with the possibility to buy at a great price in Andreas PA. Nice size property (1.7 acres). I'm really excited about the possibilities.. It's rural and so we will have to get used to that...but are looking forward to it.

So.. looking for an idea of what Andreas is like.. the people, the community..etc. How is the SD?.. I can go to a website andf ind out all the "numbers' but not the same as what people think of it in and around the area. .the schools reputation etc.

I have a 2 year old boy who will not be in school for some time. Are there a lot of little children around the area.. I like to get involved and have him play with other children.

I asked my Mom about this, as she grew up near there. Andreas is very rural - probably the exact opposite of what you're used to from Levittown. The schools would most likely be Lehighton. A couple of my cousins went there and came out okay.

The people of Andreas will most likely be white and Protestant (Germanic descendants). Lutherans and Reformed (UCC) were the big churches when my mom was growing up.

There are "small-town" things there like a meat market and roadside vegetable stands. You're not too far from good shopping and restaurants.

I'm curious as to why you'd choose Andreas. Is it a job relocation and if so, what line of work? Do you have family in the area?

Good luck to you!

I was actually lookign around Bethlehem and found an awesome house on a few acres in Andreas.. rural and it looks nice, very affordable and exactly what we were looking for.. no neighbors too near.. LOL.. but still near stuff. I don't vhave any family in PA at all.. not even in NY anymore.. as my family has spread out to OK, MT and CO! We just like the idea of PA and the idea of a rural home. Thats why we'll rent for the first year and if we like it we'll buy it .. but it depends on wether the house will still be available for us when we are ready to actually move. .. hopefully in a few months... . may just grab it up and pay rent while it's empty so i don't loose it.. if we g oand like it it could be perfect!

sleeplessinpa is on a distinguished road
Hard to say what school district you would be in. Tamaqua , Lehighton in Carbon or maybe Northwest Lehigh- all in different counties.. It depends where the house is situated - you should find this out from the rental owner. Andreas is Very Rural. You won't find a play ground if that is what your thinking for your son-this is country living and that is your playground. There are many Baptist churches in the country. I have never seen any roadside food stand there and I live in that general area.

Even though you rent but plan to buy expect to pay High Real Estate taxes.
