Smile Relocating to PA near oaks, pa

My husband, son (18 months) and I might be relocating to oaks, pa. What are some good neighborhoods around this area (not necessarily in oaks, pa)? I hear King of Prussia is a good area as well as Bryn Mawr? I'm looking for good elementary schools, some stay at home moms and possibly a community atmosphere with a pool. I know nothing about PA as we currently live in VA. I won't know a soul so I'm looking for a safe area where there are lots of young adults and kids. Also, please include any specific neighborhoods you think would be a good fit. Thanks for your time!

Oaks is near Valley Forge. Areas like Malvern, Downingtown, Chester Springs, Berwyn, Eagle, Lionville, Ludwigs Corner, etc are all really nice and convenient to Oaks. I'd stay out of King of Prussia due to mall traffic.

Before moving to VA we lived in East Coventry PA which is about 20 minutes from Oaks. There isn't a lot to do there, but you get a lot of bang for your buck and it is in a good school district: Own J ROberts. (That is the main reason we picked there...great schools)
I think the best option for you would be COllegeville or Royersford. They are close to Oaks. Royersford has a WONDERUL YMCA (Springfield) and it has everything you can imagine there. It isn't your mothers Y anymore, lol!
The realtor who sold our home is out of Oaks, so let me know if you need a referral. She is great! Works very hard and has that personal touch.
Good luck. I love VA but do miss the area a lot.
Oh and with Moms CLub and the Meetup.com you should be able to make lots of friends. My kids are 20 months and we had no problem when we lived there making friends!

Thanks for your responses. I teach at the Y, so that's great about Royersford. I might need your realtor referral- I'll let you know. Where in VA do you live now? I'm in Richmond.

I'm in Ashburn...near Dulles. I really love it here, but do miss PA.

I would suggest Springford school district- areas such as Royersford, Limerick and some parts of Collegeville I believe are included in that. Avoid the Boyertown school district- as a grad I can tell you they will NOT prepare your child for further education. Lower Merion is also a great school district but is closer to 30- 40 minutes away depending on traffic.
