One is usually born into an Amish family. There is not just one "Amish Village". The Amish are a very tight-knit community, their simple life stemming from their devout religious beliefs. They have no "initiation". It is not a club or organization. They are a quiet, simple people, wanting only to live their simple lives without interference of the outside ("English") world. I would suggest you just let them be and perhaps pick up a book and read about who they are.

Grow a beard, buy a horse, and get one of those goofy looking hats, and no one will be able to tell the difference.
