I'd like to see an end to these divisive discussions. Regardless of your feelings about where tax funding is directed (which is a whole other debate in and of itself), we're all apart of this great Commonwealth we call Pennsylvania.
You are really Ed Rendell!! aren't you!! Dunderino is only your alias.

Because it's a money sink.

It's like as an American, being taxed to benefit Canada.

Arrow Opinion

I am from the rural parts of Pennsylvania and I love Philadelphia. I liek my small towns better but I could live in it with pleasure. Also Philly brings in a lot of money for the state through taxes and tourism that benifits much more than itself. Philadelphia is trhe cultural and educational center of the great Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and should always stay that way.

Let's face it, the big cities have different agendas than rural areas and smaller cities. IMO, Philadelphia and all other cities with a population of more than one million people could be separate entities ( like Washington, DC ), rather than being a part of a state. This would give more autonomy to the rural areas and smaller cities. The big cities would lose their power to bully the rest of the state in which they are currently located.

It's nice to live in a fantasy world where we use our imagination instead of actual facts.

Here are some actual facts. The Philadelphia region constitutes 46% of Pennsylvania's population and over 42% of Pennsylvania's Gross Domestic Output. Pittsburgh constitutes another 21% of Pa's GDO. For those of you paying attention, that means more than 62% of Pennsylvania's economic output comes from the two major urban centers. So who's dragging down the ecomomy? The big cities or the rest of Pennsyltucky?

This will probably come off as an inconvenient fact to some people, but thank you for providing a very valid point nonetheless. Lots of people too often forget that -- while large cities like Pittsburgh and Philadelphia are recipients of a huge chunk of resources -- they are overwhelmingly our source for state revenue (i.e., higher tax rates, business centers with high-paying jobs, tourist destinations, etc.)
