Post Property in Orbisonia

I am planning to retire to the Orbisonia/Rockhill Furnace area in the next year or so. I will be living on a fixed income but hoped to buy a property. I've heard from friends that property frequently changes hands but not through realtors. Is this true?

I also noticed that the real estate prices almost rival the city where I live now. It seems my only advantage is that I would not be paying $2000 in school taxes. With nothing really there what caused the price jump?
