We are moving to North Carolina this summer and want to start selling our house in State College this spring. When do you think would be the ideal time to start the listing? Also, do you think it would be better to do every last improvement on the house before listing and maybe miss that date by a month or list the house at the ideal time, anyway, and keep fixing up the house?

Thanks,
Alice

Most houses sell during the summer, when families are looking to move and get settled in before the start of the school year. I would think you could keep working on your home and list it for sale just before Memorial Day. Sometimes those few extra thousand dollars in renovations will bring in a few extra tens of thousands in the selling price. Good luck to you!

more people are looking at houses in the spring and settle in the summer so you want your house on the market around April. you are better off having the house perfect before listing it on the market so don't delay start today on those fixes!!!

Thanks for the advise. I was thinking that some people might look at homes over spring break. State College has their break fairly early, in mid-March, I think to coincide with the unversity break. I would imagine that other towns might have their breaks around Easter at the beginning of April. I don't want to miss out on buyers but want people to be attracted to the house, too.

Thanks,
Alice

GO to get a bog forsale by owner sign and an info tube. get the nice big numbers for a mail box use those for your phone number on the big sign. put about 40 letters in the info tube describing your home and what your selling it for. I did this and in 5 weeks it was sold. however I was in hagerstown MD. a Realtor wanted close to $15,000 to sell my home. Oh get an appraisal on your house to determine what it would sell for if you want to sell kinda fast list it for 98% of that value. if you do go with a realtor interview at least 3. but put it as a FSBO now. inventory on homes is high.
