Default Special Ed in Bucks county

We are planning on moving to either Doylestown, Newtown or one of the surrounding towns and have a child about to enter junior high school. He has mild autism and has been attending a private special ed school in Florida for the past two years. Which areas would offer the most programs - Central bucks, Council Rock, Pennsbury? Also, are the programs set by the district, or do they vary by school, each offering different services? Any ideas on how I can find out more? Thanks!

I think all of those would be good. Excellent schools in that area. (they pay the teachers very well so you get what you pay for sometimes...I think CR is the highest paid, but not sure)
Why don't you call some of the schools and just ask them about their curriculum for a slightly special needs child?

I went to Council Rock, and by reputation their Special Ed program is very good.

By the way, I think the policies are set on a district-wide basis, but of course you might get different results based on different people in each building. Good luck!

We live in the Central Bucks School District, and have three kids. One is almost 20 and one is 18. Both graduated from Central Bucks HS East. The 18 year old just started Kutztown University. He's had mild learning disabilities for years, and CB did great by him. I am sure you'd be happy here.

Forgot to mention - we also have an almost 13-year old just about ready to start 8th grade. He goes to Holicong Middle School which is next door to East. He absolutely loves it.

Special Needs Programming is on a distinguished road
Default special needs in Doylestown

There is a program at the Central Bucks Family YMCA called STARS that offers programs for individuals with special needs
