Default Tell me about Mount Joy/Landisville

Anyone with any info. good or bad about these towns. They were suggested to me by a realtor friend of a friend who says Mount Joy is on an upswing, and it's in a great location on the west side of Lancaster, but not quite as $$, lower taxes, out of the tourist areas... I read somewhere that Landisville schools were good, recommended as a good family location, safe etc.

Opinions please!

Anyone out there ??? - how about info. just on the west side of lancaster co. - how's car insurance? I know taxes are higher in general - would anyone recommend a neighboring county for this reason?

I would definitely reccommend Mount Joy. It is really not adjacent to Lancaster, probably ~7 miles northwest. Mount Joy has a fairly vibrant business district w/ a microbrew and several restaurants. There are a number of great tree lined neighborhoods in town.

Landisville is slightly closer to Lancaster. The school district here (Hempfield) is probably the best in the county but thats not saying much as most schools in Lancatser County are very good. The Landisville area is really the upper crust of Lancaster County, you're likely to pay more for a home here. Not sure about taxes.

If you like Mount Joy, also take a look at Marietta. It is smaller than Mount Joy but very nice w/ lots of great homes on the main street.
