The Mechanicsburg area is a great family-oriented place with excellent schools. Cumberland Valley and the Mechanicsburg Area School District are both great. Mechanicsburg is a small, walkable town with shops and restaurants, I'd recommend you live there...but you can also choose the surrounding townships which are fine.

As a person who lived just outside of Mechanicsburg in Hampden Township. I'd say live outside of town. The towns basically blend together anyways with how built up the area is. I went to CV and it was a big school but I'd say I got a great education there.

Mechanicsburg is a very nice town. The schools are good, the parks are nice, and the downtown is historic. There are also many good shopping/eating establishments.
