Wawa vs Sheetz
Two great Pennsylvania companies that people from other states are sadly missing. (except for some of our neighbors) Which one do you preferr?
Wawa is out of Chester County and is also in New Jersey, Deleware, Maryland, and Virginia. Sheetz is out of Altoona and is also in Ohio, West Virginia, Maryland, and Virginia (I think, not 100% sure).
I can say that Wawa wins for me because their sandwiches are incredible--Sheets has a long way to go in the sandwich department and that is what does it for me.

I vote sheetz. Yes, they are lacking in the sandwiches, but they have a much larger menu. Plus the new ones are all getting gourmet coffee shops, wifi, and outdoor cafe style seating

I like Sheetz diverse menu, but I think at the end of the day...Wawa has better quality foods. Sheetz shakes are pretty good though.
On the gas side, I've notcied Wawa seems to be cheaper...may be more a function of the geography/location of the stations though.
Wawa gets my vote :-)

Wawa, no contest for me. I'm pretty much addicted to their coffee and hoagies.

I won't go into a WaWA unless I'm desperate for gas. I have some reasons for not going there, they tend to buy up existing businesses for their location then you get another gas station/ convenience store you really don't need. Its like banks, we have nearly 20 in a 2 mile radius, two of the same branches are not even a mile from each other. I lost some favorite restaurants from people selling out to both. I can get great sandwiches at plenty of local places, the only thing Sheetz and WaWa have going for them is being open 24 hours. I also boycott Eckerd Drugs for razing historic properties just to put up a drugstore on a busy corner.

Never been to a Wawa's, but I do like Sheetz's sandwiches. Wish they had some Sheetz's out in South Dakota. Only good thing is Loaf n Jug started carrying Turkey Hill Tea out in SD since their owned by the same company. Now all they need to do is get some Turkey Hill Ice Cream out there. mmmmmmm

This poll is probably going to break down roughly on western PA/eastern PA lines. Philly/Lehigh Valley will vote Wawa. Anyone from west of Harrisburg is going to vote Sheetz. If you're from NEPA or Lancaster, you might prefer Turkey Hill.
Personally, I'm going to go with Wawa for the same reasons the OP did. Of course I grew up outside of Philly so I'm obviously biased, but there's something about Wawa sandwiches that beats anything on Sheetz's admittedly more diverse menu. I think it's the bread.
I would still love to have either one of them where I now live though (Alexandria, VA). All we have is crappy 7-11's. What's interesting is if you go about 15 miles south or 30 miles west, there are actually Sheetzes and Wawas with a mile or two of each other competing. Now that's a win-win for the customer.

Actually, Wawa is in Delaware County, but it is close to Chester County. I much prefer Wawa to Sheetz, not that there is anything wrong with Sheetz, I just think Wawa does it better and I like Wawa's made to order hoagies.

Wawa headquarters is in Wawa, PA, as Pilot says, right in Delaware county. Wawa's are also in Virginia, all the way down to Richmond actually. I like that they have Amoroso rolls, in-store no-charge ATM's, and tasty store brand beverages. I also like Turkey Hills. We seem to have more of them then Wawa's or Sheetz's around here in the Lehigh Valley.
