There are currently meetings underway between those responsible for initiating the rail service and nearby residents to discuss projected noise impact to their properties. The meetings in Scranton and Stroudsburg both went off without a hitch, but I didn't hear the outcome of the two meetings in NJ (I believe one was in Hackettstown and the other one nearer to the Newark area). In any event, the most
recent date I heard for the rail service linking NEPA to NYC was 2012. I realize this is still a long ways off, but the rail service will be much-appreciated I'm sure; I've driven on I-80 East on weekday morning rush-hours before between Stroudsburg and North Jersey, and it truly was like driving on the 101 Freeway in L.A.!

The projected daily rider number from Scranton is only a couple of dozen, if I'm not mistaken, but Scranton is still being included because the existing Steamtown Rail Yards could easily be converted to maintain the trains. I know that I'll likely be one of those riders from Scranton, as I want to stay locally to raise my family but am unsure if I can find white-collar employment in NEPA. I'll be among the many commuting from PA to NJ or NY daily to earn a decent living while having a better quality-of-life, overall.
